Ghanaian Philanthropist Organization Celebrates First Year Anniversary.

Chicago, Saturday, June 28, 2003:- The Prestige Society of Chicago celebrated its first year anniversary with a cook-out fundraising at the Jackson Park, 62nd and Stony Island in grand style.

The Prestige Society, a non-profit organization, was formed in 2002 by Ghanaian women in Chicago. Their aim is to help as many underprivileged deserving Ghanaian children both at home, Ghana and in the Chicago metropolitan area. Within one year of its existence, the society has adopted orphaned children in Ghana and disbursed scholarship awards to senior high school graduates in the greater Chicago area.

The all female Society are presently in membership drive and has projected increase in sponsorship of orphaned children in Ghana to 10 a year. “We use 100 % of our donations for the intended purpose” said Patience Noonoo, secretary of the Society. “We encourage all to donate generously to help us assist the poor and the underprivileged in Ghana and Chicago”, she continued. The cook-out and fundraising itself was well attended but was interrupted by occasional showers.
