Ghanaian community in china home coming

On 23rd Febraury, 2013, Ghanaian businessmen/women who reside in China took the opportunity to be in Ghana as Chinese celebrates their new year. As part of their holiday making, they took time out of their busy schedules to dine, wine and dance with love ones and business partners at KINGSBY HOTEL, Achimota, Accra.

The Home Coming Party was attended by the Chairman of Ghanaian Community ( Mr. James Asare Tano ), Vice Chairman ( Ben Owusu Achiaw ) General Secretary ( Nana Appiah Kubi ) , Treasurer ( Godfred Apeesi Atanga and members who graced the home coming galore.

The MC of the occasion Abeiku Santana of OKAY FM entreated the gathering with locally refined comedies and songs which brought the high table to the dance floor. He also took time to admonish the businessmen who are mostly procurement agents to critically scrutinize all the goods they order from Chinese factories before shipping them to their clients in Ghana. He praised the work of these agents since without them it would be difficult for some traders who ply their trade in China. He recounted some of the benefits some big businessmen and women had enjoyed and still enjoy from the activities of these agents.

The Chairman of the occasion Mr. Ben Owusu Achiaw who delivered the welcome address tasked members to visit their clients who could not make it to the party to strategize for the year 2013 and also patch up any differences they may have had with them in the course of their business activities. He was so grateful and appreciative for how far the good Lord has brought some of them since 2004 to date.

The Chairman of the Ghanaian Community, Mr. James Asare Tano who was the last person to address the gathering thanked the organizers of the home coming party, staff of Kingsby Hotel and OKAY FM for the publicity it gave to the programme.

On the next day, 24th Feb.2013, the group led by its General Secretary, Nana Appiah Kubi made donation at WEIJA LEPRUSILUM. The items presented were bags of rice, oil, washing powder, liquid soap and copies of story book written by the secretary himself ( PASSION TO GO ABROAD ). The Community promised the inmates their continuous support after listening to the caretaker.

In another development, the community has observed with great concern and despair on how Chinese Embassy in Ghana refused visa applications to even businessmen/women who had been in China for umpteen times. An applicant who has been trading in China for the past five years was recently refused visa without given any explanation. According to her, she only spend at most 2weeks anytime she travels to China and cannot understand why the Chinese Embassy keeps refusing visas to applicants of her kind.

The Ghanaian Community in China through this media appeals to Hon. Hanna Tettey, the foreign minister to quickly look into this issue since continuous refusal of visas will jeopardize businesses of our traders and businessmen who ply their trade in China. The community is also alarmed at the rate which Chinese has taken over our small scale mining and retailing at the various markets throughout the country even though our laws abhor such practices. The Government must quickly address such unacceptable practices since even Ghanaian Community meetings and gatherings in Guangzhou are being monitored and checked by the Chinese Government.

On the political scene, the community entreats both NDC and NPP to exercise restraints and accept the verdict of Supreme Court anytime the final pronouncement is made.

GOD BLESS GHANA !!!
