Ghanaians Struggling In Diaspora

My brother just graduated from College

But he doesn't want to stay in Ghana

He says that he has got money to make

And who am I to blame him

He sees the hustlers with their fat rides

He sees the imported luxuries inviting him to have

He says that he dreams of coming to Europe

He heard that America is paradise on earth

Well I would like to tell him the truth

But I am afraid that his heart would break

My sister teaches for a living

And she has been doing this 4 ages

She tells me that it doesn't pay that much

But she owns a house and a car

Her husband counts himself lucky

Because he has got a woman with her own money

My sister calls me every now and then

Asking me to bring her to Europe

Well I would like to tell her the truth

But I am afraid that her heart would break

My father would be 64 this year

An old man with gray hair

He has worked hard all his life

Never begged a pesewa from anybody

His friends respect him for his sincerity

His pastor adores him

Because his tithes and offerings never come in coins

He tells me that America over flows with milk and honey

Well I would like to tell him the truth

But I am afraid that his heart would break

My mother worries herself sick about me

But I tell her not 2

I tell her that I am happy

Even though when I am not

I tell her that everything is fine

When I know is a lie

Living in a strange country makes you feel strange

Especially when you are a stranger

Well I would like to tell her the truth

But I am afraid that her heart would break
