.....for the late president John Atta Mills.
Düsseldorf is a city in Germany well noted for its international airport and a gateway for Ghanaian travelers to German lands during the era of erstwhile Ghana Airways commercial operations.
Ghanaians with their families living in and around the city over the weekend, in conjunction with Ghana union (umbrella organization of minor Ghanaian Associations) and various political party sympathizers as well as the German citizens converged together to organize a solemn memorial service in honor of the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
The event took place at ICC church premises (Kronprinzen Str.110 – Düsseldorf) at which Rev. Pastor Quatten undertook the officiating. In his brief but passionate prayers to the bereaved family as well as the Nation, Rev. Quatten asked God’s spirit that dwelt in Jesus Christ be upon Ghana especially during the upcoming general elections. “Though President Mills has gone but he left behind peace and togetherness with Ghanaians and we need to adhere and live by that legacy”Rev. Quatten admonished.
The event planning committee chairman Mr. Som and other participants could not hold their tears when he was reading the tribute of the late President on behalf of Ghanaian Community in NRW (Düsseldorf municipality) Germany.
Dignitaries present at the service were: Mr. Lenos Zigah, a Ghanaian elder in Düsseldorf; Mr. Wolfgang Grüne of SPD, Mr. David Nattey led the mourners to sign the condolence.
The Chairman of the occasion was Nana Dja Bonsu. In his contribution, he urged the congregation to put politics and tribes aside and mourn together for the late President, whom the whole world recognized as the man of God, a man of Peace and unity. “Ghanaians ought to be proud of such a legend whose ideology and selfless contribution brought Ghana to a standard of political model of Africa” Nana Bonsu stressed. To wrap up the story, Ghanaian community wishes to take this opportunity to say “Ayeekoo” to those organizers especially, Mr. Light Aboetaka, Dorothy Nakii Osei and others whose onerous efforts have made the program successful.
