Ghanaians residing in Germany will today raise funds to support the 2016 campaign of Nana Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The special fund-raising ceremony is being organized by ‘Donate To Akufo-Addo Campaign Group’ in Hamburg.
This was made known in a statement issued by the chief organizer of ‘Donate To Akufo-Addo’ Campaign Francis Duah.
According to the statement, the fund-raising exercise is being organized to generate money to support Nana Addo in 2016 since Ghanaians back home and in the Diaspora are unhappy with the poor management of the country’s economy by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
They called on the NPP, led by Nana Addo, an astute politician, to salvage them from the current hardship.
The organizers, in the statement, said if Nana Akufo-Addo is given the nod, the basic needs of all Ghanaians would be guaranteed and local farmers shall be assisted to produce enough to feed the nation.”
They also expressed optimism that the current atmosphere of intimidation on the Ghanaian political landscape will be a thing of the past when the NPP, led by the statesman, Nana Addo assumes power in 2017.
“Ghanaian politics will be devoid of insults, intimidation and defamation of character, which deter many citizens from contributing to political discussions. Politics will be based on issues,” according to the statement.
“He (Akufo-Addo) will see to it that government institutions execute the duties in godliness and in honesty without fear or favour,” it said.
The statement pointed out that ‘Donate To Akufo-Addo Campaign,’ is being spearheaded by friends, lovers and well-wishers of Akufo-Addo in Germany.
The organizers appealed to all concerned Ghanaians in Germany to join the exercise to raise funds.
