Hamburg in a gala night of strong African women

A comprehensive preparation is underway towards the presentation of the Gala Night of Strong African Women, precisely women of African origin with immense contributions and achievements in the African - German relations in Germany.

The Gala Night is scheduled to take place at the (Cultural Centre) Kulturhof Dulsberg - Hamburg on the 27 of September 2014, with awards, international guest speakers, and live acts on stage and video presentations. Concrete details of which would be published later.

Gone are the days when our relatives back home misconstrued African immigrants as either drop-outs or poor refugees without any degree of respect. But with time, the trend has changed. Today, Germany has produced enlightened, educated and skilled Africans through formal discipline. It will interest readers to know that, we have brilliant brothers and sisters who are holding enviable degrees and positions in our various communities, like medical Doctors, Engineers, Pharmacists, Business tycoons, Scientists, Researchers, among others. Some are even trained to drive public transports - Train, Buses, Ships, whiles others are police men and women as well as credible Politicians.

In order to encourage others in the system, an establishment known as AGNA - a registered Hamburg based NGO deemed it necessary to put in place a mechanism generally recognized as "Nana Yaa Asantewaa award", in other words " The African Women Awards" which is tasked yearly to celebrate and award the contributions of women with African descent in Social Engagement, Media (Sports. Arts, TV, Film, and Radio), Business, Research, and Development.

In an interview with Mr. Emmanuel Asare - the Director and initiator of the organisation (AGNA) explained “We want to intensify the creation of synergy between Germans and the women of African origin as well as institutions and organisations to enhance diversity and discover more role models for the youth." The upcoming ceremony would attract many high profiles all over the world. It is expected that, the Guest of honour would be the Ghana's former first Lady Nana Agyemang Konadu - Rawlings and her entourage.

Other academically personalities and professionals within the program include, Prof. Dr. Rose Baaba Folson – an internationally renown top researcher and developer in various fields; Dr. Med. dent. Victoria Manu - a prominent renowned dental specialist based in Hamburg; Prof. Dr. med. Charles Yankah- an international heart surgeon; Dr. Karamba Diaby – a Senegalese-born German chemist, politician and member of German Federal Government; Charles M. Huber – a film artist, politician and a member of German Federal Government; Dr. Dr. Emmanuel Akuamoa Boateng – a medical expert for oral maxillo-facial surgery. The general public is hereby invited to attend this historical event. At least an opportunity availed to witness special talents which God has endowed with Africans. There's an adage that states "Behind every successful man, there is a strong, wise and hardworking woman".

A journey of 1000 km begins by a step and God being on our side, we shall get there. God bless our continent Africa, long live Africans.
