Hawa Yakubu: A Northern Rock has fallen
A unique personality, a political maverick, a defender of the defenceless, a voice of the voiceless and a Northern rock has fallen.
BONABOTO-UK views the sad and sudden death of Hawa Yakubu who was also known as “Dombee,” a name given to her by students when she was the Domestic Bursar of Navrongo Secondary School, as a big blow to the cause of the Northern struggle.
She was seen by many northerners as a rock upon which the northern struggle was to be built.
BONABOTI-UK firmly believes that if “Dombee” was not prematurely snatched away by death, the issues raised by the union in its letter to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), on the occasion of President John Kufour’s state visit to the UK, would have been taken up by her in the corridors of power within her party in government.
It is our prayer and hope that with the fall of this northern rock, the sand dust and the pieces of small rocks that are gathered will be useful in building the northern peoples’ struggle.
Long live the memory of the fallen rock Hawa Yakubu and long live the struggling people of Northern Ghana.
