Worcester, MA -- It was another milestone for media practitioner, Hon. Kennedy Asafo-Adjei, when he won the 2015 Barbara Jordan Award and a key to the City of Worcester, Massachusetts,at the recently-held JFK Awards ceremony. The Awards Gala is an annual ceremony held by the Democratic Party in honor of the late President Kennedy.

Worcester Mayor, Joe Petty, could not hide his excitement in his address when he said: "The city of Worcester is great because of people like Ken." Congressman Jim McGovern, Representative for the 2nd Congressional District of Massachusetts, was also full of praise for Ken's hard work and his introduction of the African community to the Democratic Party.

This year's JFK Awards dinner took place on June 19th in Worcester, MA, and among the distinguished guests present was Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy III, nephew of the late President JFK and the House Representative for the 4th District of Massachusetts.

Ken was joined by his family and some members of the Ghanaian community in Worcester to receive the award. Also in attendance were the Peace Ambassador and CEO of 3G Media, His Excellency; Charles N. Ntiamoah-Mensah (Mr. CNN), who is a friend and a colleague in the media industry, and some friends from other parts of the world.

In his brief acceptance remarks, Ken thanked the Worcester Democratic Committee, the Mayor and Congressman Jim McGovern for the special honor bestowed on him. He encouraged everyone gathered there to unite and work hard to help the Democratic Party retain the White House and win back the Senate Majority in 2016.

After the awards ceremony 3G Media had a rare interview with Ken's dad, Mr. Lawrence Badu Buabeng who was beside himself with pride and admiration for his son. On what the award meant to him, Mr.Buabeng remarked that it was a mixed feeling of joy and nostalgia for him. This was because he had such an immense admiration for the late President Kennedy. Baby Ken was born after he was assassinated; it was a sad moment because his Ken did not get the opportunity to meet the wonderful President. He named his son after JFK and many years later, a grown Ken met JFK's nephew which happened on the same night Ken is also receiving The Barbara Jordan Award. From all indication, Mr.Buabeng has nurtured his son to possess some of the qualities of JFK, such as selflessness, community service and leadership. It therefore did not surprise him that Ken has been honored with several awards and citations in the last 15 years for his excellence in community service.

Hon. Ken Asafo-Adjei expressed his profound gratitude to his lovely wife, Theresa, his family and the African community in Massachusetts for being his greatest support.
