GhaMA Celebrates GHANA’S 51ST INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY
Madison, Wisconsin — The Ghanaian community in Madison, under the auspices of Ghana Association of Madison, Inc (GHAMA) extends a special invitation to individuals, institutions and organizations interested in Ghanaian and African history and culture to join them in celebrating Ghana’s 51st Independence Anniversary.
The Ghana Association of Madison, Inc (GHAMA) in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin -Madison African Studies Program will organize a forum on Ghanaian Dance and the Arts on Friday, March 14, 2008 at the Union South, Room 109, University of Wisconsin-Madison, 227 N. Randall Ave Madison, WI 53715 from 7:30 pm. to 9:30 pm. The forum features a talk by Habib Iddrisu, Ethnographer/Historian and Artist on the topic “The Arts and Ghanaian Independence” .
The talk will be followed by a workshop on Ghanaian Dances by Habib Iddrisu supported by the Atimevu Drum and Dance Group.
The celebrations continue with an auctioning of Ghanaian Arts and Craft interlaced with Cultural performances culminating in a Dinner Dance from 7:00 pm till Midnight at the Eagle Heights Community Center, 611 Eagle Heights Dr, University of Wisconsin-Madison on Saturday, March 15, 2008. Proceeds from the auction go to support GHAMA’s projects in Madison and Ghana. We hope you can join us to celebrate this memorable occasion!!!!
