Kumawu Traditional Council has debunked claims by the Kumawuman

Subjects Living Home and Abroad {KSLHA} that Kumawu has no legitimate chief.
The group claimed at a press conference on Tuesday last week at Kumawu that two people are bearing the name of Barima Tweneboa Kodua, both claiming to be occupant of the Kumawu Kodua Stool to back their claim as reported in a section of the media.

But the Registrar, Mr. Benjamin Yamoa Manu, on behalf of the Kumawu Traditional Council stated in a statement issued over the weekend that the said claims are false because Kumawu has a legitimate chief and an Omanhene at that in the person of Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua who has been gazetted in the National Register of Chiefs by the National House of Chiefs having been enstooled as such.

The KTC further explained that the Omanhene of Kumawu has been gazzetted in the Ghana Bulletin for which Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua has also been initiated by the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs as member of the House and performs various functions in that capacity.

The Council emphasized that Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua was enstooled as the Omanhene of Kumawuman as the 24th Omanhene of the Kumawu Traditional Area and therefore duly recognized by the Asanteman Council.
"He {Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua} has therefore been given custody of all stool regalia including the palace with all Kumawu Stool lands vested in him as the alludial title holder of all such lands", the Registrar indicated.
The Omanhene has consequently filled most of the vacant stools of sub-chiefs without any hitch to the admiration of the Council and the people which fact explains that Kumawu has a legitimate chief duly recognized by the appropriate bodies including the overlord of Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the government and development agencies.

Against this background, members of the membership of KTC has stated categorically that as far as they are concerned, there is no rival chief and wondered why some people could claim there are two chiefs for the town and the Traditional area.

"As far as the Kumawu Traditional Council is concerned, Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua is the Omanhene of Kumawu", it indicated and stressed that "any other person purporting to be the Omanhene other than Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua should be seen as an impersonator".
