Kwahu Citizens In Europe Prepare To Celebrate Easter In Amsterdam

BIJLMER SPORTS CENTRE – VENUE FOR THE EVENT.

Easter is an occasion that way back home in Ghana has always been attributed to the Kwahu community. It’s a period that I can still remember as a kid growing up in Accra, where the capital city of Ghana comes to a stand still,as one walks in the streets.Every true son of Kwahu wherever he or she may be, use to travel to the mountains of “Odweanoma” to celebrate the occasion. It’s normally during these times that the chiefs and people of the various towns hold big and colouful durbars to raise funds for the development of their communities. This trend is gradually creeping its head into the Kwahu community in the diaspora. The first of it’s kind is coming on in Amsterdam, precisely at the Bijlmer sports center this coming easter on 3rd and 4th April 2010.

It is an occasion that will bring together various organized National Kwahuman Associations from seven countries across Europe, namely Switzerland,Germany, Belgium, France,United Kingdom,Italy and Holland.

The event which has been dubbed, SUPER EASTER in AMSTERDAM, will be used to inaugurate the newly formed Union,KWAHUMAN EUROPE – The umbrella Union of the seven National Associations nominated above. The same event will be an occasion to raise funds in aid of Tomo-Ni orphanage in Obomeng Kwahu.

To climax the occasion will be the presence of Nana Kwame Ampadu 1 and Dassebre Dwamena who will be performing live to the numerous Ghanaians and in particular the Kwahu citizens who will throng into the first class Bijlmer sports center to have a taste of Easter as it has been way back in Ghana.

Other side attractions will be the Miss Kwahuman Europe beauty pageant , that will be contested by ladies from the seven National Kwahuman Associations that constitute Kwahuman Europe.

In her radio interviews on Recogin Radio and Ghanatta Radio over the week-end,the President of the Union, Dr. Keller Abena Agyapong of Switzerland, used the occasion to extend her invitations to all National Kwahuman Associations across Europe, who have not yet heard of the good news, to join the bandwagon in trying to put Kwahuman where it deserves to be.”If you are not part of the problem, then you must be part of the solution”,she concluded.

The MP for Nkawkaw,Honourable Seth Adjei- Baah who will be the Special Quest Speaker and other dignitries from Ghana will be gracing the function. The event starts at 16:00 Till day breaks.
