“Mahama’s government is an embarrassment to ghana” npp organiser
Mr Kwaku Anane-Gyinde, National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Germany has described the conduct of the Mahama-led government to deliberately massage the economic figures presented to the Internal Monetary Fund (IMF) as reprehensible and an embarrassment to the people of Ghana across the globe.
According to him, the government conduct amounts to fraudulent misrepresentation and Ghanaians should not be surprised if the IMF imposes a penalty on Ghana for such blatant violation of all international standards, best practice and acceptable behaviour.
Speaking on Ghana Waves’ “Face to Face” programme on Monday, Mr Anane-Gyinde said apart from tarnishing the country’s image and reputation, this irresponsible act will further erode the already low investor confidence in Ghana’s economy.
He stated that international investors will be reluctant to put their money into a country where official figures and statistics cannot be trusted because such figures lack credibility and cannot be relied upon to make sound and long-term investment decisions.
Mr Anane-Gyinde pointed out that governance under the NDC has been reduced to empty political rhetoric, vile propaganda, outright lies and deception adding “the recent revelation by the IMF gives a clear indication of how far and deep the politics of deception has become entrenched within the NDC government”.
The NPP activist expressed regret that although the NDC government in 2000 was fined $2000.000 by the IMF for engaging in similar deceptive conduct, the party seems not to have learn any lessons saying “they seemed to have learnt nothing and forgotten nothing”
According to him, Ghana needs and deserves a new crop of leadership to give the country a new direction and sense of purpose and said an Akufo-Addo-led government will provide that decisive and purposeful leadership that had eluded Ghana and Ghanaians for the past five years.
He called President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government to render an unconditional apology to the people of Ghana for bringing the countr’s good name and reputation into disrepute and subjecting Ghana into international ridicule.
