The Minister of Culture and Chieftaincy, Honorable Sampson K. Boafo, has confirmed this Morning to GHP that he will be in Chicago to Grace and celebrate with the Asanteman Association and Chicagoans on the occasion of the Inauguration and Coronation of Nana Addai Baffour and Ohemaa Abena Amponsah this Memorial Day Weekend!
In another development, the Asanteman Council has issued a press release detailing the dress code and time for the celebrations. The release states:
It is gratifying to note that Asanteman Association is inaugurating the chieftaincy of Nana Addai Baffour and Nana Abena Amposah as Chief and Queen of the Asantefuo in Chicago. The event is this week-end, Saturday, May 24th, 2008 at 63rd and Cottage Grove. We would greatly appreciate if all chiefs and queens appear in a preferred dress code as follows;-
Saturday:-
a) All Chiefs and Queens - Black cloth
b) The Community - Black and White cloth
Sunday:-
a) All Chiefs and Queens - Kente (Sika) cloth
b) The Community - Kente cloth
The Program will strictly start at 9.00pm with a “Procession†of Chiefs and Queens and Council members at 9.15pm prompt. This is a swearing-in ceremony so please time is very important.
It is expected of all affiliates to cooperate by adhering to these guidelines to preserve our rich Ghanaian traditional culture. The statement concluded.
