NDC Amsterdam branch celebrates the success of Ghanaian Democracy

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Amsterdam branch organised a dinner party on the 7th february, 2009 to celebrate the successful conduct of the recent elections in Ghana.

The celebration took place at the AC Riverside Hotel in Amsterdam South East. The event was attended by prominent personalities of the Ghanaian community in the Netherlands.

Present were the Deputy Ghana's ambassador to the Netherlands, His Excellency.Mr.Anim Odoi, Mr. Jude Kehla an official of the District Council in Amsterdam South East was also present. Other dignitaries at the occasion were the Union of Ghanaian Chiefs resident in the Netherlands, Heads of Ghanaian Organisations , Business Leaders, Clergymen, representatives of branches of Ghana's Political Parties and NDC members and sympathisiers.

The event was characteristic for the cordial atmosphere and fanfare, the side attraction was the performance of the WIPSA Cultural Group. They thrilled the audience with a high class dance of Adowa and Kpalogo.

From 7 pm guests were being introduced by the Master of Ceremony Nii Okoi Hammond and were ushered to their various seats by a team of ushers affiliated with WIPSA.

At 8pm the Vice Chairman of the NDC Amsterdam branch formally welcomed the guests on behalf of the Chairman Mr.Pat Dogbe who is currently in Ghana and the entire NDC Amsterdam branch executives. This set the ball rolling for the evening programme. The Deputy ambassador was invited to say a few words. He was followed by Mr. Jude Kehla , Madam Anita Arthur-Nyann, Dr. Ike Biney and others. However these were all brief since it was an evening for celebration. When everyone had been served, the floor was opened for a non stop free dancing jam. This lasted till about midnight. The guest started departing around this time.

It was the first time such an event has been hosted in Amsterdam by a Ghanaian Political Party.Secondly the venue was not the usual grounds for organising Ghanaian festivities. The use of the AC Riverside Hotel premises shows the seriousness that was attached to the event.

Finally the civility shown by guests and all who attended demonstrated the level of maturity within the Ghanaian Community.

Our thanks and gratitude goes to the membership of the NDC who in diverse ways contributed to make the celebration possible. Secondly our special thanks goes to our Patron Madam Gifty Manukure for her generous support of the branch. We also thank several individuals and community leaders gave generously for the celebration. May the Almighty God bless them in kind.

Long Live Ghana Long Live NDC Long Live Democracy Eye Zo Eye Za
