NDC-Atlanta Calls For Reinstatement Of Kofi Adams

: For The Sake Of Party Unity

Members of NDC-Atlanta have unanimously agreed at the just ended general meeting that, the continued suspension of Mr. Kofi Adams, the deputy general secretary of the party, for the allegation that he will run down President Mills’ administration, does not augur well for NDC in light of the upcoming general elections. The Chapter is therefore appealing to the leadership of the great Akatamanso to reinstate Kofi Adams based on the 10 point reasons given below.
1. That Kofi Adams has vehemently denied that the voice on the tape was not his voice
2. The other person with whom he was purported to be talking to (Gabby Otchere Darko) has also denied having had such a conversation with Kofi Adams
3. His suspension does not serve any useful purpose in the scheme of things within the party
4. His continued suspension deepens the perceived disunity within the party
5. Lots of things happened during the Sunyani congress but we need to put them behind us and move forward
6. Currently, Kofi Adams could have been the only person who will be serving the interest of the Founder within the leadership of NDC
7. That subsequent to the Sunyani congress, Kofi Adams utterances did not support the allegations against him; he has defended the government and participated in the party’s activities on several occasions
8. His reinstatement could pave a way for the unity talks between the Presidency and the Founder, H.E. J.J. Rawlings
9. It has not been proven that the voice on the tape belongs to Kofi Adams
10. Above all, the unity of the Party must be paramount to all and that Prof. Mills government is too big to be brought down by Kofi Adams
NDC-Atlanta is in no way supporting the statement that was made on the tape. Obviously, no right minded people would support such an ugly and repulsive statement, but the Chapter believes that there are huge tasks and responsibilities ahead of us, such that the unity and cohesiveness within the party would make winning the December elections more easier, for which the leadership of the party should consider this humble proposition.
Meanwhile, NDC-Atlanta has thrown the challenge to Akufo Addo to strongly denounce Kennedy Agyapong’s infamous declaration of war statement as it was widely denounced and frowned upon by civil society and the general public. We believe that Kennedy Agyepong’s statement has antecedent to Akufo Addo’s ‘all die be die’ pronouncement, which is currently being used as part of NPP’s slogan, as it was witnessed during his recent visit to Atlanta.

NDC-Atlanta is calling on concerned Ghanaians to challenge this ‘all die be die’ slogan in court, and prey the court to ban it use on political platforms. ‘All die be die’ is another hate speech which has found its way into the fabric of our society, thanks to Akuffo-Addo, and that it is derogatory and capable of inciting people to engage in violence. It is high time Ghana puts all the necessary institutions at her disposal to guard and protect the peace that the country is currently enjoying. No one should disturb this peace just because he wants power.

The entire membership of NDC-Atlanta continues to affirm and support the ‘asomdwe hene’, President Mills in pursuit of the Better Ghana Agenda and is therefore appealing to all Ghanaians to give him another 4 years to complete all the good works that he started.
