NDC Germany Participates in SPD Annual Congress

The NDC in Germany recently participated in the Annual Congress of the Social Democratic Congress on the future of the World Economy and the New Global Foreign Policy related to Social Democratic governing countries on 31st May 2008. Mr. Frank Adusei NDC Assistant Coordinator in Germany was part of a 2 Member NDC Delegation who were invited to participate in the Congress which took place in the Southern German City of Nuremburg. During the congress the NDC Delegates held separates talks with some members of the Socialist Groups from the European Parliament on the way forward for Social Democrats in Africa.

In the opening speech the SPD chairman Mr. Kurt Beck said Democracy is a dialogue between people and constructive issues that are in the people’s interest. He asked every Social Democrat to think of the people’s interest first which the basic principle of the Social Democracy is. Some of the main Global Challenges discussed included the continuing High Price of Oil and Food Security which could impact negatively on the Development and Democratic situation in Africa. The Congress also called for Global Social Democrats to intervene in the situation in Zimbabwe. Asked about the forthcoming election in Ghana, Mr Frank Adusei assured delegates that in the past the NDC has lost elections and have handed over power peacefully to the current Government. And he believes that the current Government are similarly matured like the NDC to hand over Power peacefully when they loose the elections this December. He also went further to say that the Ghanaian Political System is matured enough to prevent the situation in Zimbabwe from happening in Ghana

Mr. Adusei thanked the SPD for the invitation and he assured Delegates that the NDC as a Party would continue to strengthen the cooperation between the SPD and itself and also with all Social Democrats around the World to enhance the principles of Social Democracy in Africa and worldwide. Mr Frank Adusei was accompanied by Mr Eric Ofosu of the NDC Germany Branch.
