NDC - Milton Keynes holds Ward elections

The Milton Keynes’ Ward of the National Democratic Congress, UK & Ireland Chapter held its biennial Congress over the first weekend in February 2010 to elect new Executive Committee members.

The elections were held at the Tinkers Bridge Meeting Place, Central Milton Keynes, MK6 3DD. The event was well attended by NDC party members and sympathisers across the UK. Those present included a cross section of the Ghanaian community resident in Milton Keynes and party representatives from London, Liverpool, Sheffield and Manchester.

The elections were supervised by Mr Prince-Kassim Alubankudi, Secretary of the NDC UK & Ireland Chapter, Mr Horace Ankrah, the Chairman of the Chapter and Mr Kwame Agbodza, who acted as the MC for the elections.

The opening prayer for the occasion was said by Mr Maxwell Kally.

The outgoing Chairman of the Ward, Mr Reginald Akafo in his opening address expressed his appreciation for the support the Ward membership had given him during his term of office. He said he was optimistic that the election of new officers to the Executive Committee would enrich the Committee membership with people who have varying degrees of experiences to drive forward the Party’s agenda. Mr Akafo said despite the numerous challenges membership of the Ward had continued to grow.

After the elections, the following persons were sworn in by Mr Horace Ankrah as new Executive Committee Members of the Milton Keynes Ward of the NDC, UK & Ireland Chapter.

The new Chairman of the Milton Keynes Ward, Mr Peter Kumadi, in his acceptance speech, thanked the entire membership for the trust imposed in him. He also thanked the outgoing chairman for his support for the Ward. Mr Kumadi said he would endeavour to drive forward the Ward’s agenda and also embark on membership recruitment drive to increase the support base of the Ward. He called on the entire membership to unite behind him to make his term of office a success.

Mr Rashid Khawasa provided the closing prayer.
