As the National Democratic Party (NDP) goes to congress today to elect its flagbearer, we wish all delegates well and encourage all Ghanaians to support this maiden appearance of the party as the party forays into the political landscape of our beloved country. There is no doubt that our country, under this current Mills-Mahama administration, has witnessed so much abuse of office and pillaging of the state for personal aggrandizement.
The NDP North America wishes to state categorically that there is the need for a third force which can hold the two political parties – the NDC and the NPP – in check and reduce their excessive influence in our body politics which is becoming counterproductive. To do this, we are all required to take a close look at the reasons for the emergence of the NDP and if those reasons why we all believe Ghana and for that matter many African countries have failed to make progress, then we have a duty to change the course of destiny. Let us arise and ensure that people are held accountable for their decisions.
The NDP has come to stay and will grow from strength to strength to provide Ghanaians with the alternatives they deserve. Come and lets celebrate alternative views to what we have seen so far.
The National Democratic Party (NDP) also wishes to inform the general public that frantic efforts are underway to open two offices in the United States of America to coordinate its North America activities. Discussions so far indicate Washington, D.C. and Chicago are the most suitable locations for mobilization and organization of party activities across the United States and will serve as the nucleus for the party’s activities in North America.
Washington, D.C. will be the contact point for Ghanaians living on the East Coast and the South who wish to be part of this effort, while Chicago will serve as the contact point for the rest of North America including Canada and Islands around the United States.
You are all invited to join hands in rejuvenating our country and stamping out corruption from our midst. The Ghanaian diaspora is in a unique position to make contributions to this effort which becomes “a true vehicle” for its unique voice in matters of nation building. Do not be deceived that anything is going to change with the change of leadership baton in the NDC in Ghana. Those who have taken over were part of the mess our country has witnessed in the last 3.8 years and cannot be absolved from it. Let us join hands now to redirect the course of our country before the cancerous decay consumes us all.
