NPP Ireland Branch Says To ‘Sir John’-Walk On!!

“I wish to call all supporters to remain calm and not to do anything untoward to disturb the peace of the nation…As true believers of rule of law and democracy, I urge all to allow the process of the law to take its normal course”-Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie (General Secretary-NPP)

This thought provoking, poignant and timeless excerpt from Sir John’s famous Press Release, dubbed, “BE CALM” and the knack and adroitness with which Lawyer Nii Ayikoi Otoo, former Attorney General meandered through a seemingly delicate politico-legal matter that had the potential to disturb the peace of our dear country depicts that the New Patriotic Party as a political entity, is second to none. As we warmly welcome our hardworking General Secretary and Youth Activist, Messrs Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie and Hopeson Adorye HOME from a narrow but sweet escape, NPP Republic of Ireland is ever conscious of the inconvertible fact that the former and later were, like all occupational hazards, caught up in the line of sacred duty. We equally take note that had it not been the complex nature of the offices these two gentlemen presently occupy, their unalloyed commitment to NPP; and unfortunately, the volatile mood in the country today, they would not have, probably, found themselves on the wrong side of the law. Consequently, and as followers of a noble call that is often characterised by unpredictability and suffering, NPP Republic of Ireland can not, but be inspired by our indefatigable General Secretary and Mr. Hopeson Adorye’s LONG WALK TO FREEDOM. As Judge Glenda Hatchett once quipped, “We are inspired by those who, despite unbelievable pain and hardship, have chosen to become victors”. We wish them very well in future; even in these trying but hopeful times.

Equally so, we wish to use this medium to thank, once again, Lawyer Nii Ayikoi Otoo for a job well done. Again and most importantly, we extend tons of gratitude to the rank and file of the Great Party, the Women’s Wing who held prayer vigils at the premises of the Party Headquarters and other parts of the country; and the leadership of the party for the show of unity and total support for our General Secretary and Youth Activist. But even as we go through this painful phase of our chequered history as a country, we MUST always recollect the words of Cordell Hull when he said, “Iam certain that however great the hardships and trials which loom ahead, our America (NPP/Ghana) will endure and the cause of Human Freedom will triumph”. Indeed, the Battle is the Lords!!!
