NPP-USA Contributes

.... TO ELECTIONS IN GHANA!!!

On behalf of NPP-USA, the Vice Chairman, Nana Agyei-Yeboah made presentations to selected NPP parliamentary candidates at the Party’s headquarters in Accra on Wednesday September 18, 2008 . Assisted by NPP – National General Secretary, Nana Ohene-Ntow, Nana Adjei Yeboah presented cash for the purchase of “T-Shirts” that are very much in demand by prospective voters. The “T-Shirts” have the picture of the parliamentary candidate in the front. The back says: “NPP-USA SUPPORTS (candidate’s name).”

In all NPP-USA contributed $8,000 that was distributed among two NPP-USA members and two constituencies that have been adopted by the USA branch. Dr. Samuel Amoako, MP for Abuakwa North was exuberant as he received $2,500. “I have already started printing the T shirts since I talked to our Chairman, Kofi Boateng. Everyone who sees NPP-USA on the shirt wants one and I cannot thank all of the members of NPP-USA enough. I also take this opportunity to thank you all for the tremendous support you gave me when the issue of my dual citizenship came up. I am delighted that you have decided to not let the issue die and please tell our Chairman to keep up his leadership of this very good fight that will resolve a confusing law for all of Ghana.”

Mr. Adjei Sowah who is contesting for Ododidiodio has this to add when he received $1,500. “I have a very deep respect for NPP-USA. You received me extremely well when I was in the USA in the summer and you have lived up to your promise to adopt my constituency. You know that mine is an orphan constituency and every help you give me will be put to a very challenging fight. When I am in parliament, I shall not forget your causes because they are mine also. I thank all the members of NPP-USA and I can tell you that every one wants one of your T shirts more than money.”

Mrs Catherine Afeku, a former resident of Atlanta who has also renounced her US citizenship also affirmed her commitment to fight in parliament for the causes of Ghanaians Living Abroad and echoed the sentiments of Agyei Sowah for her Evalue Egwira constituency (Western Region). Catherine received $2,500.

Mrs Otiko Djaba who is contesting for John Mahama’s seat in Bole Bamboi received $1,500 and is simply ecstatic that NPP-USA has in deed adopted her constituency as promised.

Agyei Yeboah announced at the ceremony that NPP-USA has committed $5,000 to pay for advertisements to support Nana Akufo-Addo’s campaign that will be played 75 times on GBC. This is in addition to the very significant support that NPP-USA has already given to the Presidential campaign. Nana Ohene Ntow was full of praise for NPP-USA for the selflessness that it has consistently shown, whether in supporting issues such as the dual citizenship; natural disasters (NPP-USA contributed $5,000); and going beyond its members to adopt difficult constituencies. He asked Nana Agyei Yeboah to pass on a message to the members not rest but continue even more with their now famous “2 by 1” fundraising initiative whose good fruits we are all now seeing. “There is more to be done and we need you and appreciate you very much.”

Supporting Agyei Yeboah were Maxwell Amoako ( Chairman- Minnesota ), Kofi Bawuah (NPP-USA National Organizer) and Eugene Ofori (Executive – Connecticut Chapter)
