NPP Vice Chairman Schools Nunoo-Mensah

....On Simple Etiquette

The National Vice-Chairman of NPP-Germany, Mr Alhassan Yakubu Tali has descended heavily on Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah for his unsavoury remarks about Ghanaian workers describing those comments as unacceptable, unfortunate smacks of executive impunity which should have no place in a properly functioning democracy.

Speaking on the Cologne-based Deustche Welle Radio station on Friday, Mr Tali cautioned the NDC leadership to be conscious of their utterances and the likely ramifications such misguided statements could have on the peace and stability of the country.

According to him, what is more worrying and indeed disturbing is the fact that these reprehensible statements should come from the national security advisor whose duty among others, is to uphold, promote and protect the peace and security of the country. He pointed out that it is unacceptable in a civilised society for people in position of authority to vilify and denigrate the very people who put them in office adding that people in such positions should demonstrate respect and civility towards the ordinary Ghanaian Mr Tali insisted that it is the right of every Ghanaian to freely express his/her dissatisfaction with government without being ordered to leave the country as the retired general tried to do and said the freedom of expression which includes the right to embark on industrial action is a right that we as a nation must cherish, nurture and protect. “We must ensure that it is ingrained in our national psyche because it is the best guarantee against tyranny now and in the future” he said. The vice-chairman called for the immediate dismissal of Brigadier General (Rtd) Nunno-Mensah as he seems not understand the sensitive nature of his position. Kwaku Anane-Gyinde Aachen-Germany
