Namibian First Lady, Monica Geingos, chose a resplendent kente outfit last Friday when she hosted a gala event at the State House to honour her two predecessors, Mrs. Penehupifo Pohamba and Mrs. Kovambo Theopoldine Katjimune Nujoma. The First Lady’s outfit was a decidedly great honour to Ghana and also underscored the very warm relations that exist between Ghana and Namibia.
It would be recalled that the last State Visit by the late President Mills was to Namibia where he was also Guest of Honour at the country’s Heroes Day celebration in August, 2011.
Namibians talk fondly of Ghana’s support during the independence struggles and post-independence reconstruction period. There is a highly professional Ghanaian community in Namibia where the Deans of the Medical and Law Schools are Ghanaian professors.
