OKUSACA 10th National Delegates Meeting

Okuapemman Association of USA and Canada (OKUSACA) 10th National Delegates’ Meeting at Atlanta, Georgia.

Okuapemman Association of USA and Canada (OKUSACA), the Umbrella Organization which unites all the established Okuapemman chapters in North America, wishes to bring to the attention of all chapters that, the annual Mid-year Delegates’ Conference will be held at Atlanta, Georgia, from May 24th-26th, 2013. The Delegates of this Organization from all the chapters of the Association will be arriving at Atlanta, Georgia, on Friday, May 24th, 2013 for this auspicious meeting. News reaching the national secretariat in New York indicates that the hosting chapter is profoundly excited and anxiously awaiting for the arrival of their compatriots from the US and Canada.

The Mid-year meeting of delegates and observers, which precedes the Annual Odwira/Ohum Cultural Festivities of the people of Akuapem/Asuogya descent in September, during the Labor Day Week-end, has a paramount objective of formulating, discussing and establishing policies for implementation by the supreme body of the National Council of the Association.

The flamboyant Chapter President, Mr.Ben. Aye-Addo and his exuberant Executives have done a wonderful job of securing reasonably priced Garden Plaza Hotel, Norcross where they will host the delegates’ conference as well as the Fundraising Dinner Dance to commemorate the 2nd Anniversary of the installation of the Okuapemman Chief and Queenmother of Atlanta. The negotiated rates for guest rooms are King Size Bed Room-$45.00 plus tax/night and for Two Double beds room-$49.00 plus tax. We fully understand that it is not obligatory for members to lodge at the hotel; however, it is our humble opinion that when all delegates lodge at one location, we will be more efficient in the use of resources and the limited time at our disposal for the more important meeting. We also have in place, other accommodation arrangements for those who will prefer to lodge at home with family members of the chapter.

The National Congress will begin on Saturday morning from 9:00am to 2:00pm. After a break for lunch, the meeting will resume at 3:00pm till 5:00pm to deliberate on some pending key issues, such as holding talks to revamp the deplorable conditions existing at our noble Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital (TQMH) situated in our jurisdiction in Ghana; donation of Computers and its Accessories worth about $6,500.00 to the Presbyterian University at Akropong –Akuapem campus. Akuapem Chieftaincy issue which is ongoing will be updated and discussed.

The Delegates will also plan and discuss this year’s Odwira/Ohum festival of Akuapemfo/Asuogyafo to be held during the Labor-Day weekend in September, 2013 at Newark, New Jersey.

When it is all said and done on Saturday, the delegates will be entertained by the host chapter with a colorful Dinner Dance at one of the Ballrooms at the hotel, where delegates and invited guests will be served with superb and sumptuous home-made food and assorted drinks plus a bash of selected Ghanaian Music to round up a weekend of fun and pleasure before departure.

Founded in 1985, Okuapemman Association of USA and Canada (OKUSACA) has its main objectives as promoting unity among citizens of Akuapem/Asuogyaman Traditional areas; community service, education and embarking on new projects as well as supporting ongoing developments in these traditional areas.

Undeniably, OKUSACA has lived up to its keen expectations by its fervent financial donations for the enhancement of health and education in our Traditional areas in Ghana.
