Owusu-Adjapong Tours USA

Hon. Felix Kwasi Owusu- Adjapong, MP for Akim Swedru, former Minister (Transport and Communication and Parliamentary Affairs) and the Majority Leader paid a week’s visit to formally introduce himself to NPP-USA executives. He attended and meetings in New York City, New Jersey, Chicago, Maryland and New England.

In all his stops, Hon. Owusu-Adjapong made it known that he is interested in being nominated as NPP’s Flag bearer for the 2008 Presidential elections.

Welcoming the Hon. Owusu-Adjapong to New York, Mr. Kofi A. Boateng NPP-USA the National Chairman thanked him for his many years of helping NPP to stay cohesive and strategizing behind the scenes to help the party win power.

As the majority leader, Mr Boateng commended the Hon former Minister for the courtesies he extended to the Diaspora Vote Committee when the group visited Ghana in October 2005. Hon. Owusu- Adjapong stated that his platform is built on three legs: CUSTOMARY- following the Busia- Danquah-Dombo tradition; CIVIL- building on the principle of respect for and enhancing human value; and DIGITAL- being part of the new world in all aspects of development. While in New York, Hon. Owusu- Adjapong paid a courtesy call on the Consular General, H.E. Obeng Busia. He also visited Ghanaian churches; Anglican, Methodist and Roman Catholic, where he was given very warm welcome. In this we give special thanks to elders Nana Kwabena Brobbey Dankwah, (Sumpahene of Danyase Traditional Council) and IKE.

In Chicago, the NPP-USA Chapter Chairman Mr. Kofi Amoabeng paid tribute to Hon. Owusu-Adjapong for his role in passing the ROPAA law and his contribution to national development as a whole. During the question and answer session some of the concerns were raised on unemployment and the energy crisis at home.

The 1st Vice Chairman NPP-USA Chapter in Maryland, Nana Nti Yeboah, welcomed Hon. Owusu –Adjapong and his team. In his remarks, Mr. Yeboah mentioned the fact that NPP as a party needed a unifying person who could bring everyone on board to ensure victory in 2008. He urged all aspirants to ensure unity before, during and after the congress in December 2007 so that the party can retain power come the 2008 elections. During the question and answer segment the issues raised were on how Ghanaians living abroad could be mobilized to help in the nation building process.

Hon. Owusu-Adjapong said if elected he would work on those issues to bring a better solution. He does not want to make any promises yet. Next, Hon. Owusu Adjapong visited the NPP-USA members in the New England area in Worcester, MA. He was received by party executives led by Mr. Nana Kwaku Yeboah, 1st Vice Chairman of NPP-USA National. With him were Mr. Anthony Dade (Chairman - Worcester, and Mr. Kwadwo Konongo-Fordjour (Chairman- Boston). By the end of this month, Hon. Owusu –Adjapong would have toured all the constituencies in Ghana.
