You Cannot Deny People Opportunity Then Turn Round and Disrespect Them – CPP’s Akosa

Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa, former Director General of Ghana’s Health Services and Presidential Aspirant of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) was the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the CPP in London, United Kingdom on Sunday 16th September, at which he analysed some of the problems facing our country.

The learned Professor told the CPP faithful and other members of the public gathered that the CPP record is unenviable and must be boldly defended, that Ghana has the land and the resources to be able to grow more and to be able to feed it. He said in his journeys across the country vast areas of land was occupied by elephant grass. “This is land which must cultivate food for the country”, he said.

“There is no reason for Ghana to be poor”, Prof Akosa told his audience.

He went on to say that Ghanaians have been reduced to a “secondhand existence”, with third generation street children now born on the streets of Ghana. He said “today if you if you are poor and unemployed you are not part of the equation “, that our people have been pushed into a situation where they will do anything for survival, but that “People cannot be denied opportunity and hope and then to turn round and look down on them or disrespect them”.

In a “Question and Answer” session Professor Akosa said Ghana is in crisis and the CPP is the only party that can rescue Ghana, that the plight of ordinary people is what concerns he and the CPP the most.

He said education would be his priority and the priority of the CPP under his Presidency, with education becoming compulsory till the age of 18.

The CPP Presidential Aspirant said further that the current selfishness, greed and disrespect, must be replaced with CPP values including Love of Country, Discipline, Honesty and Morality, Reliability.

On International links and relationships, Prof Akosa said Ghana’s interest will guide him in all things and that his Nkrumaist philosophy will not allow him to betray his country in any way.

The other Presidential Aspirants of the CPP – Mr. George Aguddey, Dr Paa Kwesi Ndoum, Mr. Bright Akwetey and Dr Kwaku Osafo are also expected to address the UK & Ireland Branch of the CPP soon.
