Role of Council of Ghanaian Chiefs in the Netherlands on President Kufuor visit to the Netherlands.

To give President Kufuor 3-day (21-23 October, this year) official visit to the Netherlands a regal flavour, Her Royal Majesty Queen Beatrix of the House of Orange, extended invitation to eight members of a Council of Ghanaian Chiefs in the Netherlands to take part in a State Banquet.

The Banquet was held at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague, in honour of the President.

Dignitaries in attendance included high-powered presidential entourage, some Dutch Royal family members, Dutch ministers of State, top CEOs of Ghanaian-based Dutch organisations, Nananom and some members of the Ghanaian community with high social standing.

The Nananom delegation was led by Barima Asamoah Kofi IV (known in private life-S. K. Oduro) Abakomahene of Abrem Traditional Area, in the Central region.

The delegation included Barima Kwasi Anyane (George Brogya) Chief of Anum Asamankese under Abuakwa State in the Eastern region; Baafour Frimpong Effapanin II (E. Asimeng) Krontihene of Adadientam in Akyem Traditional Area; Nana Asabea (C. Offie) Ankobeahemaa of Akuapim Traditional Area; Nana Akua Afihemaa (P.T. Awuku) Dompia-Apagyahene in Akuapim Traditional Area and Nana Marfo Ahenkora II (E.A.Yeboah) Beniehene of Kotoku Traditional Area, all in the Eastern region.

The rest were Nana Kwaku Amoateng (A. Amoateng) Kyidomhene of Jachie Traditional Area and Nana Okoben Koko Osiakwan II (D.F. Manso) Yaadwaasehene & Amaniehene of Kumawu Traditional Area, both in the Ashanti region.

Hajia Adiza, known in public life as A. Ouedraugo and Nana Kuntu Jackson Amankwaa (E.J. Amankwaa) in the role of Protocol/Press/Linguist accompanied Nananom.

Nananom had the chance to hold conversation with the President and the Queen during which Barima Asamoah Kofi IV made a book presentation on 'Chieftaincy in Ghana' on behalf of the council.

Besides the Royal Banquet, Nananom, in their full royal regalia on the second day, also partook in a spectacular cultural night of traditional Ghanaian dances at De Nieuwe Kerk in The Hague, with Queen Beatrix, the President and his wife and Ghanaian First Lady, Theresa Kufuor, all present.
