Sankofa Radio, a leading diaspora radio station, has won the Best Radio Station category at the Ghana Entertainment Awards (GEA) USA 2024. The event took place on Saturday, July 6, at the prestigious Merkin Hall, Kaufman Music Center in New York City.

The highly anticipated event celebrated the outstanding contributions of Ghanaian, African, and international entertainers across various categories. Entertainers are eligible for nominations regardless of age, sex, religion, disability, or nationality.

Categories for nominations included various genres and styles of African music, such as Highlife, Hiplife, Reggae, as well as Dancers, Comedians, Visual Artists, and many other performing artists' categories.

Sankofa Radio, which began operations in 2008, continues to provide media services to underserved populations across the globe. The radio station last won this category in 2019.

In his acceptance speech on behalf of Sankofa Radio, Mr. Dennis Boafo, popularly known as "Don Dee," CEO of Ghana Music Awards-USA, expressed gratitude to the organizers and reiterated Sankofa Radio’s vision to positively impact society.

In a post-event statement to Oral Ofori of TheAfricanDream.net, GEA-USA emphasized the importance of hosting the awards as a means to celebrate "the magic that results from the passion and tenacity of the Ghanaian entertainment scene. The awardees have boundless creativity that showcases the best Ghana has to offer."

The event was a resounding success, with attendees praising the organizers for their hard work and dedication. The event highlighted the vibrant and dynamic nature of the Ghanaian and African entertainment industry, with a strong emphasis on recognizing talents from the diaspora.
