Toronto NPP Elects Executives

The Toronto, Canada Chapter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected new executives at its annual congress held on September 25, 2005 at the Al-Curuba Banquet Hall in Toronto. Mr. MacDonald Agbenyo, former 1st-Vice-Chairman of the Chapter was elected Chairman. He replaces Mr. Yaw Osei-Amoako who currently resides in Ghana and did not contest the election.

Other members of the Executive elected were returned to office unopposed were Alex Barning, 2nd Vice-Chair, Patrick Kofi-Agyekum, Secretary and Joe Opoku-Ware, Treasurer.

In a hotly contested vote for Organizer, Samuel ?Onipamu? Baah tained his position on the second ballot after the first round of voting resulted in a tie between him and Dick Opoku-Mensah. Mr. Opoku-Mensah was elected assistant Organizer. Elections to the positions of 1st-Vice chairman, Youth and Women?s Organizers will be held at later date.

Mr. Joseph Abankwah, Electoral Commissioner, supervised the elections and Nana Akwasi Owusu-Ansah assisted him.

In his passionate acceptance speech MacDonald Agbenyo urged party members and supporters to gear up their efforts to disseminate government policies and programs as well as progress to the general population. He also admonished members to work hard to recruit more members to the Party as well as double their efforts at working to return the party to power in 2008.
