UK based Philanthropist donates towards libraries

Winneba (C/R), May 11, GNA- A Winneba philanthropist based in the United Kingdom, Mr. Kow Taylor on Thursday made a cash donation of GH¢ 1,200.00 to refurbish the libraries of eleven senior and junior high schools in the Effutu municipality.

The schools were, Winneba Senior High, Uncle Rich Junior high, Methodist primary, AME Zion primary, Anglican Primary, Roman Catholic Primary, Presbyterian Primary, Nsuekyir District Assembly (D/A) Primary, Gyahadze D/A Primary, Ateitu D/A Primary and New Winneba D/A Primary. The money was presented to the various heads of the schools at a ceremony in Winneba.

Mr. Isaac Otuntoh Arthur, who made the presentation on behalf of the philanthropist, said the donation was a contribution towards the promotion of education in the municipality.

According to Mr. Arthur this is the second time, Mr. Taylor had made such donation, adding that, the Winneba Senior High was among the schools that benefited from his package two years ago. He appealed to teachers to reciprocate the gesture by putting in more effort towards the success of education in the area.

Mrs. Juliana Buadi, an official from the Ghana Education Service (GES) on behalf of the GES thanked the donor for his kind gesture and promised that her office would ensure judicious use of the money. Mr. Robert Andrews Ekow Ghunney, Effutu Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) urged school heads to ensure proper supervision of monies and other materials at their schools to raise educational standard. He appealed to other people and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to emulate Mr. Taylor' gesture and contribute towards the development of the area. 11 May 08
