The historic inauguration of YONSO VISION took place on September 04, 2010 at COMFORT INN Hotel in Columbus, Ohio. Members came from all over North America, mainly New Jersey, Connecticut, Georgia, Toronto, Virginia, New York, Indiana.
Giving the welcome address, Mr. Sampson Nuro (Vice President) reminded members that even though the group cannot completely alleviate poverty in Yonso and its surrounding areas, but he believes that the group can give little hope to school children who are struggling with their examination. He observed lack of text books and library facilities has made it absolutely impossible for JSS graduates to continue their education. Initiatives by the Yonso citizens in the US to embark on education assistance program would definitely have a positive impact on the childre. Mr. Nuro also said the group can give little hope to people in the area who have to be rushed to Mampong Government Hospital after minor illness and incidence such as snake bite and headaches by upgrading the existing Yonso clinic. He thanked all the members for their dedication and contribution to the Group.
Mrs. Felicia Marfo (former director of Ghana Education Service) also encouraged members to do away with selfishness and also respect each other. She said so many groups come up and die quickly because some members were not treated fairly and respected.
The group has already registered with the State of Ohio and elected new executives to take care of day to day activities.
