The Electoral Commission (EC) has appointed Collation Officers with backgrounds in mathematics and statistics to guarantee accurate collation of election results.
Speaking in a recent interview with Joy News, a Deputy Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Bossman Asare, explained that these officers will assist returning officers at constituency and regional collation centers, reinforcing the credibility of the electoral process.
"So, at each constituency coalition centre, there is a coalition officer, and the job of this officer is to assist the returning officer and the two deputies, and this has been replicated at the regional level.
"We always say elections are won at the polling stations. Let us make sure that the results we are going to put together at the polling station, we have individuals there who are going to ensure the integrity of the election," he urged.
Dr. Bossman Asare also emphasised that the EC's intensified public education efforts and the televising of Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meetings have enhanced transparency and public trust in the Commission.
"One of the things we have done differently this year is that we have doubled down all the good measures we adopted in 2020, especially in terms of our public education. This year, we have been able to educate more Ghanaians.
"We've done a lot of activities; we have rolled out public education videos on our activities, to the extent that many people have come to appreciate what we do. One of the key things has do with IPAC, for the first time, has been nationally televised," he stated.
