The Electoral Commission has been ordered by the Accra High Court to recollate and declare results in the Okaikwei Central constituency.

Presided over by Justice Forson Agyapong, the court noted that the EC had not completed the collation of results in the constituency, as there were 31 outstanding polling stations that had not been collated.

The judge also pointed out that, despite demands for action, the EC had failed to act.

To ensure a smooth, seamless, and violence-free collation, the judge ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to provide adequate security to the Electoral Commission to facilitate the completion of the collation and the declaration of a winner.

The outcome of the suit follows the NPP's request for a writ of mandamus to compel the Electoral Commission to complete the collation of results in the constituency.
