Former Minority Leader of Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, has admonished voters in the Nadowli/Kaleo Constituency to vote massively for the former President, John Dramani Mahama, as president and also retain Member of Parliament for the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency, Anthony Mwinkaara Sumah in the 2024 general elections.

Addressing a charged crowd at Charekpong where the NDC's 2024 campaign for the Constituency was launched, the Tamale South MP thanked the people of Nadowli/Kaleo for producing an illustrious son, Alban Sumana Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament.

Per his assertion, the contribution of Alban Bagbin to democratic governance in Ghana is unparalleled.

"You have to do Speaker Bagbin great honor by voting for H.E. John Dramani Mahama and Tony Sumah. I can assure you that the NDC is coming back to power. For the NPP in the Nadowli/Kaleo Constituency, spoilt ballots should count more than their votes."

Haruna Iddrisu who also represented the flagbearer and national chairman of the party, made several promises on their behalf.

According to him, the N12 Highway which is an international road would be redesigned and constructed to merit its status.

"I am told Charekpong has gold deposits that need to be harnessed for the benefit of the young people. Under the next NDC government, we will provide the youth with community mining concessions. Let me emphasise that, this mining would be regulated and responsible. It would be done without destroying the water bodies," he said.

On his part, the MP for Jirapa Constituency, Cletus Seidu Dapila lamented that the Ghana School Feeding Program has collapsed.

According to him, checks in schools within his constituency reveal that caterers are no longer cooking for the children.

"I wish to challenge the media to take your cameras and go to our schools to check whether they are cooking or not. The NPP government is engaging in an illegal act because the caterers are not preparing food for the kids yet they are being paid," Dapilah alleged.

He claimed that under the erstwhile NDC administration, caterers were usually sanctioned for even missing out on preparing food for a single day.

Member of Parliament for Wa Central Constituency, Hassan Rashid Pelpuo, wondered how the Nadowli/Kaleo Constituency was able to keep churning out exceptional individuals from the constituency to lead them as MPs.

"People of Nadowli/Kaleo, you need to show us how you do it. Just after the exit of Speaker Bagbin, you have selected another brainy young man for parliament. Anthony Sumah enjoys enormous respect and recognition in parliament even though he's a first-time MP. You need to vote for him and John Dramani Mahama massively," Dr. Rashid Pelpuo urged the constituents.

He further assured that the next NDC government would put in place policies to ensure the people are empowered financially to improve upon their living standards.

Meanwhile, Dr. Thaddeus Banye, a lecturer at the Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS), who contested the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency during the NDC's parliamentary primaries, called for unity among members for better electoral fortunes in the upcoming December polls.

On his part, the MP for the Nadowli Kaleo constituency, Anthony Mwinkaara Sumah, expressed his excitement at how well-wishers thronged the Charekpong school park to witness the campaign launch.

He said: "If it were merely because we want to win the seat, we wouldn't be here because we will surely win it. But it's because we want to win the seat with over 85% for myself and H.E. John Dramani Mahama."

He called on all party members and well-wishers to kickstart the door-to-door campaign in earnest for victory.

The campaign was launched by the Upper West Regional Chairman of the NDC, Alhaji Abdul Nasir Saani, who charged party members to work assiduously for victory.

"We are committed to winning all the 11 parliamentary seats in the Upper West region. If we are able to succeed with this agenda and the NDC wins the presidential elections, there's nothing we will ask from H.E. John Dramani Mahama and he wouldn't give us as a region," he said.
