The 1985/87 Year Group of the Prempeh College Old Students Association (Amanfoo 1985/87) has congratulated Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) on his appointment as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate and Vice-Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The year group expressed great joy at seeing one of their classmates ascend to the role of Vice-Presidential candidate in Ghana on the ticket of the NPP.

"We are pleased to extend our support and congratulations to our brother and mate, Senior Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), and wish him well in every endeavor.

"NAPO, as he is affectionately known, joined Form 1 with us in September 1980, completed Form 5 in 1985, and Sixth Form in 1987. He was a member of Guggisberg House.

"Senior Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh's commitment to the cause of Prempeh College and the Old Students fraternity (Amanfoo) is enormous and exemplary, which led to the christening of a new house in 2023 after him Matthew Opoku Prempeh House," said the President of the 1985/87 year group.

In addition to his professional acumen, NAPO has risen politically as a Member of Parliament for the Manhyia constituency from 2009 to 2012, a Member of Parliament for the Manhyia South constituency from 2013 to date, a Minister for Education from 2017 to 2020, and a Minister for Energy from 2021 to date.

The old boys emphasized, "It is, therefore, not surprising that he has been appointed as the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 general election, and as a result, he has indeed made Prempeh College, our mates, and all Amanfoo proud.

"As a product of Prempeh College, his intellect, leadership, commitment to duty, and dedication to his work have earned him respect and recognition, leading to being honored with doctorate degrees by various institutions locally and internationally."

The president added "We have absolute trust in NAPO’s ability to deliver as the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and achieve his goal of becoming the next Vice President of the Republic of Ghana.

"The Class of 1985/87 of the Prempeh College Old Students Association congratulates you, NAPO, and prays for God’s guidance and protection on your political journey.

"Floreat Prempeh College.

"Long Live the 1985/87 Year Group,

"Long Live Amanfoo,

"Long Live Prempeh College,

"Long Live Ghana."
