Protect the whistleblowers in NPP - Alhaji Sinare urges President Mahama to shield Adwoa Safo

A leading member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Said Sinare, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to ensure protection for the embattled former lawmaker for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, against what he describes as political retribution from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Sinare's appeal follows recent revelations by Adwoa Safo, a former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, about internal party pressures and alleged underhand dealings within the ruling NPP.

Speaking to journalists, Sinare emphasized the need to safeguard individuals who expose internal wrongdoing, arguing that whistleblowers like Adwoa Safo play a crucial role in strengthening democratic accountability.

"We cannot sit back and watch as the reckless NPP victimizes one of its own simply for telling the truth. If Adwoa Safo is being persecuted for exposing their internal rot, then it is a clear sign of the vindictive nature of the former government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I urge President Mahama and all well-meaning Ghanaians to stand with her," he stated.

Adwoa Safo recently revealed details of alleged coercion and mistreatment by top government officials, further deepening tensions within the party.

Sinare further cautioned that targeting individuals for speaking out sets a dangerous precedent for Ghana's democracy.

Assuring Ghanaians that the government of President John Dramani Mahama will protect whistleblowers in the NPP, he urged civil society groups to condemn any acts of political intimidation against Adwoa Safo and others facing similar threats.
