Speaking ahead of Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang's outdooring as the running mate of the National Democratic Congress for the 2024 presidential election, a failed Women Organiser aspirant of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Ellen Ama Daaku questioned the fuss about the appointment.
According to her, the nomination of Prof. Opoku-Agyemang as running mate to former President John Dramani Mahama in 2020 did not have any significant impact on the election and the same will result in the December 7, 2024, polls.
“My issue this morning is that I believe we have a lot of things to discuss in this country. The NDC as I said, they are not ready for this election. If they were, there are other pressing matters with their campaign and getting themselves ready, not outdooring somebody you outdoored four years ago; it did not make an impact.
"You announced her three months ago, it has not made any impact. In fact, it was after that announcement that the famous statement by Kwesi Ahwoi came, you have not addressed that and you are going for another outdooring,” she said.
Meanwhile, speaking delivering her inaugural address following her outdooring by the NDC on Wednesday night, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang among other things accused the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government of running Ghana into near collapse.
She noted corruption as one of the pervasive ills of the current administration while emphasising the resolve of the NDC to ensure those responsible are held accountable.
“John and I have agreed, that whoever has participated in the plunder of the state must be held accountable.
"This is not a threat; it is a promise, premised on the wishes of our citizens across the various political and social divides, and hinged on the principle of accountability,” she stated.
