2019 in review: Highlife songs that reigned in 2019

We have just a little time to the end of the year 2019 and as it is custom with humans, we reflect on what happened within the year in all facets of our lives.

Ghanaweb.com is reflecting on what happened in Ghana's showbiz industry. And as part of the series, we have put together a list of the biggest Ghanaian highlife hit songs that got tails wagging in the year.

1.Sarkodie - Saara ft. Efya

You can’t expect anything less when Sarkodie and Eyfa team-up on a song. Sincerely majority of Ghanaians have missed these ‘guys’.

The celebrated artises demonstrated their knack for good music by doing justice to the song titled ‘Saara’ which became an instant hit as soon as it was released.

The song was produced by Mog Beatz.



2. Things Fall Apart – Kofi Kinaata

After he successfully released ADAM AND EVE, the award-winning Ghanaian rapper Kofi Kinaata served Ghanaians with another hit song titled ‘Things Fall Apart’ and fans can’t stop thanking Kofi.

The song is barely two months yet the attention it garnered cannot be measured in volumes talk less of it appearing in the end of first semester examination at the University of Ghana.



3. Fameye – Nothing I Get

Including Fameye in this list is not a mere coincidence as the artise proved his prowess behind the microphone by ‘killing’ every beat that crossed his path in the year 2019.

His single ‘Nothing I Get’ garnered so much recognition to the extent that the song served as an anthem for the youth.

Even his colleagues in the music industry, namely; Medikal, Article Wan and Kuami Eugene teamed up with him to work on a remix of this same ‘ Nothing I Get’ song.



4. KiDi ft Kwesi Arthur - Mr Badman

Lynx Entertainment artiste and ‘Odo’ hitmaker Kidi kicked off 2019 in a grand style as he teamed up with Grind day hitmaker, Kwesi Arthur to thrill music lovers with his massive banger tagged ‘Mr Badman.

Kidi, over years has been serving Ghanaians with hit songs and it’s no coincidence that he makes this list.


5. Wendy shay – All For You

Wendy Shay has undoubtedly been the most successful female artiste in 2019. She has been at almost every major show within the year. At the heart of her success has been 'All For You'.



6. Kojo Antwi - SIKADAM ft. Okomfour Kwadee

Highlife legend Kojo Antwi got us dancing with this track titled “Sikadam” featuring Okomfuor Kwadee.

The modern-day highlife song erupted like a volcano and caused music lovers to pounce on it like heavenly manna.



7. Kuami Eugene ft KiDi – Ohemaa

Finally, music lovers witness a collaboration from the kings of Lynxx Entertainment. Kuami Eugene featured Kidi on his ‘Ohemaa’song. The banger was released in June and proudly produced by Mog Beatz.



8. Bra – King Promise ft Kojo Antwi

Legacy Life Entertainment act King Promise teamed up with music maestro Kojo Antwi to release a love song titled ‘Bra’. The love song which was full of emotions and buzz made waves in Ghana’s music industry.



9. R2Bees – Yesterday

Its obvious the Tema guys have lost some of their magic but they combined forces to release a song banger titled ‘Yesterday’. The aforementioned song forms part their site 15 album.



10. Becca – Yes I Do ft. Tiwa Savage

Multiple award-winning Ghanaian singer Becca after the success of her previous single “Driving License” which featured shatta wale, unlocked a new jam tagged ‘YES I DO’ featuring Nigerian songstress, Tiwa Savage.
