Ghanaian artist Dr. Cryme, born Darlington Agyekum, has disclosed why he has never vouched for a political party despite his longevity in the music space.

According to the Tema-based singer, Ghanaians do not really understand partisan politics and endorsements, which is why he has decided to stay neutral.

Speaking on Cape Coast-based Property FM, he said, “First of all, I’m always a Ghanaian, which means I love the whole country and the whole people, and every time I want to stay neutral.

"Being neutral means I’m not affiliated with any particular political group, so if I’m invited by any of them, I’ll gladly honour the invitation. I just want to always stay neutral because I want to continue to be the artist that they know, so if any party invites me, I’ll go,” he told Amansan Krakye.

“But for me to vouch for one particular political party, I think Ghanaians do not really understand politics and partisanship, so when you endorse one party, they get angry at you.”

He explained, “Someone might be your hardcore fan, but because you belong to a particular party which isn’t their choice, they might end up hating you for that reason.”
