Kumawood actress Christiana Awuni has urged Ghanaians to vote against the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections.
Speaking at the launch of the "Unique Stars for NDC and John Dramani Mahama" campaign on June 23, 2024, in Accra, Awuni called for a change, likening the potential ousting of the NPP to uprooting cassava.
According to Awuni, the NPP has brought untold hardship to the country, failing to fulfill its promises and leaving Ghanaians in economic distress.
She emphasized the need for a new direction under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama, the former president and candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“If they are supposed to open a free port because of economic hardship, I don't think someone will be left in this country.
"We have sat down and realized that we can't continue this nonsense, so we are going back for the second coming of JM who is not self-selected but selfless.
“For the NPP and Nana Addo, we will uproot them like cassava in the elections,” she said.
During the campaign launch, the group's president, Big Akwes reiterated support for John Mahama.
He criticized the current administration for its handling of the country's affairs, accusing it of running a "family and friends" government and failing to protect the public purse.
