Sonnie Badu, Ohemaa Mercy, Allen and The New wave, and Danny Nettey, have all been nominated for awards at the 1st Annual Africa Gospel Music Awards.
The event scheduled to take place on the 10th of July 2010 at the Zanzibar Banqueting Suite, Sydenham, London, is being organised by Ultimate Praise Africa.
Following a press release sent out by the organisers, they said due to the overwhelmingly successful 'ULTIMATE PRAISE AFRICA 2009 CONCERT', they have decided to use this year's show for the 'AFRICA GOSPEL MUSIC AWARDS CELEBRATION 2010'.
The UPA says this year is for the celebration and awarding of excellence in the gospel music industry of people of African and Africa in the Diaspora origin. Awards will be handed out in 15 categories.
Among these 15 categories, there are four Ghanaian artistes nominated in 6 categories. Sonnie Badu tops them all with 4 nominations in 3 categories (BEST SONG, BEST ALBUM and VIDEO OF THE YEAR), with a double nomination in the Best Song of The Year Category. He will also perform alongside some of the finest gospel artistes from Africa including South African based Praise machine, Agu Uchechwukwu of 'double double' fame, Wole Awolola of KICC, DTWG and more artistes to be confirmed.
Allen and The New Wave, Danny Nettey, and Ohemaa Mercy, have each been nominated in the GOSPEL CHOIR/BAND OF THE YEAR, BEST NON UK BASED ARTISTE/GROUP, and BEST NON UK BASED SONG respectively.
