5 ridiculous things Shatta Wale has ever done in his music career

Today, October 17, 2019, is the birthday of Ghanaian dancehall giant, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale in showbiz.

Despite all his great feats, Shatta Wale’s brand cannot be severed from controversy. He is almost always in the news for the wrong reasons and that has sustained his relevance in the industry.

Ghanaweekend.com has compiled five (5) of Shatta Wale’s most controversial and ridiculous acts since he stepped the threshold of the music industry.

1. 2013 VGMA controversy

Shatta relaunched his career in 2013 at Vodafone Ghana Music Awards went he went bonkers at the Accra International Conference Centre.

After losing the Dancehall Song of the Year award to Kaakie, went about insulting both Kaakie and the organisers of the awards for what could be best termed ‘stolen verdict’ in his estimation. He even did a song in this regard.

His ‘Shatta City’ song was lost out to Kaakie’s ‘Toffee Pon Tongue’ in Reggae/Dance Hall Song of the Year category.

2. Showing his butt on stage

At a show in Dusseldorf, Germany in 2018, Shatta Wale, in the course of his performance pulled down his trousers and showed his buttocks to the audience.

Many people said this act was in fulfilment in a ‘prophecy’ Sarkodie made in his ‘Advice’ song to Shatta Wale – that Shatta Wale would one day show his genitals to the public.

3. The infamous ‘blow job’ video

In June 2018, Shatta Wale broke the internet again without a shocking video.

In the video he posted on Snapchat, a girl was seen giving him and a friend of his a blow job.

Shatta Wale minutes after realising he f*cked up by posting such a video on Snapchat, deleted it but it had already been captured by the internet.

Shatta Wale’s voice is heard in the background, excited about the pleasure he’s getting and is heard saying; “Oh I like this one, oh yeah”.

4. Shatta Wale slaps bodyguard on stage

Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale gave his bodyguard a resounding slap at the S-Concert held at the Accra Sports Stadium on December 2017.

According to reports, a fan mounted the stage during Shatta Wale’s performance, trying to hold Shatta Wale’s leg when his bodyguard prevented the fan from touching him.

Shatta Wale, not happy with the act by the bodyguard, gave him a slap which caused his mask to fall.

Later he came out to say the whole thing was part of his stagecraft.

He even went ahead to buy a motorbike for his bodyguard.



5. 2019 VGMA ‘Congratulation’

It still beats the minds of most showbiz people why Shatta Wale mounted the stage of the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with his entourage when Stonebwoy was called for an award.

This act by Shatta Wale brought about a scuffle between the two camps, thus interrupting the award ceremony.

Pandemonium broke out shortly after Stonebwoy was announced the winner of ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year’. It was the fifth consecutive time he is winning the award.

Shatta Wale had explained that he went on stage just to congratulate his then arch-rival, Stonebwoy.

Even though the case in case, the two reconciled through a Unity Press Conference held at Marriot Hotel in Accra.
