Malta Guinness Street Dance, Ghana's most energetic dance competition, held its semi-final competition at the National Theatre on Friday 21st May 2010 where six dance groups creatively flipped, popped, locked and cranked their way to the Grand National Final soon to be held in Accra.
The atmosphere at the National Theatre was electrifying throughout the whole competition as all the dance groups wowed the judges and audience with their impressive dance moves.
Supporters of the various dance groups did not relent in their efforts at cheering their favourite dance groups with songs, banners and placards throughout the competition.
The six groups who qualified for the national final are the Rockers of all Times, Heroes Dance Crew, High Spirit Dancers, B.13 dancers, Bugi Bust Dancers and No Limit Crew. The six groups qualified with 60% of public votes (via sms) and 40% of judges' score throughout the whole competition.
The selection of the six dance groups now sets the stage for the Malta Guinness Street Dance Africa Grand National final.
The winner of the national final gets to win GH¢6,000, a year's supply of Malta Guinness, branded merchandise and the opportunity to represent Ghana at the Malta Guinness Street Dance Pan African competition where they stand the chance of winning a total package of up to $35,000.
The Malta Guinness Street Dance Africa competition kicked off with a National Audition in Kumasi and a media launch in Accra.
Since then, the crews have toured the country to win a place in the nation's heart and to secure those all important votes, with events in the Greater Accra, Volta, Ashanti, Western and the Northern regions.
