6 hot questions we ask about Nana Addo's pidgin English on Twitter

Shatta Wale and President Akufo-Addo Shatta Wale and President Akufo-Addo

The official Twitter handle of the president of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has been buzzing with re-tweets and shares in the last few hours and it's all about his birthday wish to self-proclaimed Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale.

It all started late Tuesday night when Nana Addo wished the controversial artist a Happy Birthday in a youthful pidgin language.

The above birthday wish by the president has seen Nana Addo also extend a formal invitation to Shatta Wale to the seat of the president, for what? Well, we are yet to find out.

But even though this post by the president has sparked laughter on social media, some political minds and critics of the president might be having key questions bugging their minds in the wake of this post.

1. Who is responsible for this tweet, the president?

The major question that most Ghanaians could be asking is if indeed Nana Addo personally handles his social media accounts thus posts his mind on all platforms without the vetting of professional communication experts.

Considering the busy nature of Nana Addo's work schedule as president of Ghana, could it be that the above birthday wish was rather posted by a someone else and not Nana Addo himself?

2. Is Nana Addo that a great and die-hard fan of Shatta Wale?

No need doubting the fact that Shatta Wale remains one of the few artists in Ghana with millions of fans not just in Ghana but across the world. Per the post on the official handle of Nana Addo does it, therefore, suggest that Nana Addo has a crave for the hippy tunes of the self-acclaimed dance-hall artiste?

3. Why pidgin instead of a simple English Language?

Why the choice of a pidgin language? This could be the main question that Ghanaians could be asking following the presidential tweet to Shatta Wale.

As we speak, thousands of students across the country are currently battling with their English language papers mainly due to the inculcation of "broken English" to their thoughts of studies - a development which has seen the Ghana Education Service advocate for a national discussion on how best to collapse the fast rising surge of this youthful language.

But did Nana Addo really consider all these factors before publishing such a statement on his official page?

4. Has Shatta Wale now broken the chains of protocol as presidency welcomes him?

The second sentence by Nana Addo connotes that the president has officially extended an invitation to the controversial artists at the seat of the presidency. As in when Shatte would be honouring this invitation, we are yet to find out.

5. Did Nana Addo just give political detractors new wave of evidence to fight back?

There is no denying the fact that Nana Addo's message to Shatta Wale could see political critics justify their arguments over the incompetence of president and the reason why he needs to be voted out in 2020 elections. There is a high possibility that the opposition NDC could hold a press confab over this issue.

6 Shatta Wale mattered more that Ivory Coast?

Having just welcomed the Ivorian president, Allasane Ouattara in a pomp display on the streets of Accra not forgetting the signing of the Strategic Partnership Agreement and three other bonds, one could want to find out if the only priority on the mind of Nana Addo was that of Wale's birthday.

It is expected for government to release an immediate press release regarding this controversial tweet explaining if indeed the content of the tweet were the true reflection of Nana Addo's.

It is also expected for the presidency to hint of a possible cyber attack against the Twitter account of the president.

Meanwhile, Nana Addo has been engaging some Ivorian investors following the 2 day visit of President Alassane Outarra.
