The exciting experience on Ghana’s number one reality TV show began on Sunday as all 12 contestants graced the stage on the first competitive week in ‘The Battle’. The charged audience in Studio B couldn’t help but make the noise needed to cheer on fighters in the battle.
It can now be said that the battle has really began and the stage is set for the ‘who is who’ of TV3 Mentor.
The Battle consists of contestants from Mentor I, II and III in a competition that is aimed at bringing out the best singer or artist among the 12.
Faya, Prince, Joe, K.G, Dela, Vic, Kofi, Hakeem, Cee, Isaac, Paa and Erico proved to the audience how ready they are for the long battle ahead on the Tigo sponsored show.
Kofi’s tribute to the late South African Reggae star, Lucky Dube stole the heart of both the studio audience and those at home. The judges, Rama Brew, Mark Okraku Mantey and Dominic Ansah Asare couldn’t help but mark his performance as the best for the night.
Kofi did his own dramatisation of the assassination of Lucky Dube and said a few words of condolence while lying down on stage and acting the shooting incident that occurred in South Africa.
Hakeem performed an apologetic song by Akon. As Rama puts it, ‘it was a smart move’ starting his first stage performance on the battle with an apology considering what happened the last time he was on Mentor.
Hakeem was one of the 12 contestants in Mentor I. His eviction came with great controversy when he accused the organisers of conspiracy.
Now that the dust has settled, fans of Hakeem and 11 other contestants will be glued to their TV sets to witness history as they vote for the best of the best of Mentor.
