Ghanaian gospel musician Grace Ashly has shared her ordeal at the German embassy when she was nearly denied a visa.

She has alleged that a former Ghana Football Association (GFA) secretary, Kofi Nsiah, played a role in the incident.

In excerpts from an interview on ‘Onua Showtime’ shared on November 27, 2024, Grace Ashly disclosed that Kofi Nsiah had given her a letter to present when she visited the embassy.

However, when she submitted the documents, the consular informed her that the details were meant to ensure her visa would be denied.

"When we were preparing for the 2006 World Cup, we met former President Kufuor, and he asked the GFA to take care of me because I had inspired many women to love football.

“So, when it was time for me to apply for a visa, Kofi Nsiah, who was the GFA Secretary at the time, gave me a letter to present to the consular as part of my documents."

She continued, "After handing over the letter, I was told by the consular that the details in the letter were meant for them to deny me the visa. The funny thing is, Kofi is from my hometown, and I trusted him. The letter even seemed official, but it turned out to be a set-up."

Grace Ashly went on to explain that after the embarrassment at the German embassy, another consular at the French embassy took notice of the situation and decided to grant her the visa.

"So after the embarrassment, a consular at the French embassy heard about my case and decided to give me the visa. By the time the GFA team arrived at the Black Stars camp, I had already made it there, and they were all surprised," she added.

Grace Ashly is known for her inspirational songs dedicated to the Black Stars, including hits like "Black Star Fire", "Ghana Black Stars," "Ayekoo Black Stars," and "Black Stars Mmre Nie".
