Popular artiste manager Nana Poku Ashis has expressed concern over how a lot of men are enduring dissatisfaction in their monogamous marriages but hesitate to pursue a second wife due to societal judgment.
He stated that several men are unhappy in their current'single marriages’, with their wives often aware of the issues, yet the fear of societal backlash prevents them from seeking a second marriage.
During a discussion on United Showbiz, Ashis shared a story about a friend who is considering marrying a younger woman to spice up his unhappy marriage.
Ashis explained that while his friend believes this younger woman is freakier in bed, he is deterred by the fear of societal judgment and the potential repercussions from his current wife, including the risk of being killed or losing his property.
"A lot of men are unhappy in their single marriages, but due to cultural norms and societal expectations, they remain in these unsatisfactory relationships. They are lying to themselves and killing themselves, knowing very well that the single marriage is not working for them. Even their wives are aware of this," Ashis said.
"I have a friend who wants to marry a younger woman to improve his marital life. He is concerned about being judged and fears that his wife might even kill him or take his property if he pursues this," he added.
He referenced biblical advice that suggests if one can manage multiple marriages, one should consider it.
"Even the Bible says that if you can afford more than one marriage, opt for it," he stated.
Ashis therefore encouraged men to pursue their happiness and desires if they can manage the responsibilities of a polygamous relationship.
"If you can handle it, don’t let anyone deter you from marrying more than one wife," he advised.
