Legal counsel for Lawrence Abrokwa, Maurice Ampaw, has disclosed that his client will seek for property settlement after the hearing of their case in court.

In an interview with Ghanaweb, the legal practitioner argued that any property acquired during the course of marriage will be shared by the couple.

According to him, his client, the husband of Afia Schwarzenegger, intends to file a divorce on the ground of adultery.

“My client, Abrokwah, is going to file for divorce on the grounds of adultery and we are going to claim alimony, because legally we are still married to Afia Schwarzenegger. Therefore, that is the step we are going to take by filing for divorce and our main grounds is adultery. And also, ask for property settlement, as to the sharing of the house and other properties acquired during the course of the marriage”, the lawyer explained.

He added that being a matter of legality, he leaves everything to the discretion of the court.

“The law is quite certain but the court will take its decision on whether a party has an interest in a property of a spouse. If upon dissolution of marriage, a spouse is able to establish that this property was acquired during the course of the marriage, it is a matter of legality and the court will decide on that”, he said.

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw still holds the assertion that his client, Lawrence Abrokwa, and comedienne, Afia Schwarzenegger, are legally recognized as husband and wife.
