Accra worships with Nii Dowuona

Gospel lovers in Accra are calling for another edition of Nii Dowuona and Friends after a successful event on Sunday.

Accra came alive as hundreds of residents converged at the premises of the Ghana College Of Physicians And Surgeons, Auditorium to worship at the first edition of "Christian Gospel Revolution(CGR)'' put together by Nii Dowuona Music in collaboration with Under Fire Records.

Gospel artistes Charlotte and Morphat were first to lit the fire of praise at the packed auditorium of the event which kicked off with a surprise rain many christened “Showers of favour”.

The performances forced some patrons off their seats onto the floor to join in the worship. Musician Rev. Okasse Lamptey with his trade-mark gospel reggae songs did not disappoint.

Acting as the John the Baptist, he managed to set the pace for the rest of his friends in a matter of 30 minutes.

Then came the soothing baritone voice of Selina Boateng who elevated the hundreds of gathering into the worship zone.

At this point, Selina mounted the stage with beautiful melodies and set the stage to reiterate the vision of her foundation that is meant to support sick persons.

Man of the night, Nii Dowuona continued in praise and worship occasioned with shouts of “Praise God” from the crowd. He then advised the gathering with his songs that touch on social issues. The climax of the event was the All-Star performance led by Nii Dowuona to sing the popular 'Gye Me Di' song among others.

As jama goes it was incredibly fun, and before long Nii Dowuona joined the crowd on the tracks just to keep spirits up. After the jama, the crew started to prepare the stage again, then he began to lead a praise and worship again which restored the audience.

As touching and heart-piercing as it was, many kneeled; some had hands lifted in the air as they cried in the spirit. The hundreds that gathered at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons left the auditorium charged and wanting more.

The show which started at around 5pm saw new songs and featuring released and performed to the patrons. Nii Dowuona featuring Selina with a title song 'Antidote', as well as 'Billionaire' featuring Mr. O. Morphat, Selina, the Guitarist were all sung to the gathering.

The musical night also saw awards presented to winners as a sign of better recognition in the music Industry. Selina Boateng was crowned with CGR Raggae Song of the year and Best female Vocal performer of the year, Lama had CGR songwriter of the year among other awardees.

A number of patrons who spoke to the media after the encounter expressed happiness about the concert and charged organizers for subsequent editions.
“I am happy I came. It was a worthy cause to help save someone's life and see my favourite musicians,” one of the patrons said.

“I am really blessed. It should be a regular event," another patron pleaded.
The 2019 edition of the Christian Gospel Revolution (CGR) was under the theme ‘To The Four Corners Of The World'. It is an evangelism drive by the parish to uphold and proclaim the teachings of Christ through gospel music.
