Adehyeman Cultural troupe embarks on awareness programme

Susuanso (B/A), May 19, GNA - The Adehyeman Cultural Troupe, the educational wing of the Non-Formal Education division (NFED) of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has begun a 10-day awareness creation programme in Brong Ahafo.

The programme is aimed at sensitising communities through drama, interactions with opinion leaders and group discussions on the need for communities to initiate development projects to attract the support of the government or district assemblies.

In collaboration with its Brong Ahafo regional office, the national secretariat of the NFED held the programme at Susuanso in the Tano District on Tuesday.

The four-and-a-half hour programme attracted many people. Led by Mr Aloysius Attoh, Research Officer at the national headquarters of NFED, the 19-member troupe supported a drama and play organised by the local learners of NFED with their drum-language music.

The people staged a play depicting the dissatisfaction of the people over the alleged non-performance of the queen mother in initiating developmental projects.

Earlier, Mr Peter Ofosu-Amankwaah, assembly member for Susuanso commended NFED for the programme.

He said the town had two night schools - one at the Roman Catholic and the other at Pentecost - and appealed to the national secretariat of NFED to provide the elderly learners at the schools with reading glasses.
