Adom FM storms Hogbetsotso festival

Ghana’s entertainment powerhouse, Adom 106.3 FM will take the Anlo state, in the Volta Region, by storm this weekend when the chiefs and people of the state, celebrate this year’s Hogbetsotso festival.

Having established itself as a foremost event organizer, Adom FM will once again put up exciting and innovative events between Friday, November 4 and Sunday, November 6 at the festival.

The Hogbetsotso festival marks the journey of the Anlo’s from their former home in Togo, to their present settlement in Ghana.

This year is special because it is the first in more than a decade since the last one was held; for more than 13 years, the festival had been on suspension because of a bitter and acrimonious chieftaincy dispute in the area, but that has been settled with the installation of a new chief, Togbui Sri III.

Events and Promotions Manager of Adom FM, Frank Odoom told Adom Entertainment News the station is part of the festival to promote Ghanaian cultural heritage.

Outlining the events for the festival, Mr. Odoom said that on Friday, the principal streets of Keta will come alive with a street carnival, which will feature top artistes like Berima Sidney and Mzbel among others, and will be aired live on Adom FM.

“In the morning of Saturday, November 5, there will be a grand durbar of chiefs and people at the Hogbe Park in Anloga where his Excellency, President John Evans Atta Mills is expected to be present,” he said.

Mr. Odoom said on the evening of that Saturday, Miss Hogbetsotso Beauty Pageant, dubbed “Mama Hogbe” will come off at the Awadada residence at Keta and the winner will walk away with a brand new saloon car worth $ 15,000.

Fifteen (15) young ladies who are indigenes of the area have been selected to compete in the final pageant. The 15 beauties were hosted live on Adom FM’s drive time programme, Ofiekwanso Thursday, and each of them expressed optimism at winning the ultimate prize.

Hottest sensations on Ghana’s music scene right now, Eduwoji of ‘Yenko Nkoaa’ fame, who hails from the Volta Region, and Atumpan of ‘The Thing’ fame, are expected to rock the pageant.

On Sunday, there will be an Omotuo Sankwan special at the Ekui Spot. Adom FM has in recent times taken a keen interest in tourism and national culture and has actively been promoting festivals in the country like the Asafotufiam, Ngmayem, Odwira, Akwambo, and Rice festival among others.
